Eve Ashworth has 20 years of experience in building successful companies and so she knew that in creating Floxsie for the long run, there needed to be someone who had a little distance from day-to-day operations in order to provide perspective. Dr. Syreeta Tilghman offered herself for the role as Chair of the diversity, equity and inclusion committee and the fit was perfect. Together with the rest of the Floxsie team, Eve and Syreeta are making us an intentional company that benefits each and all it touches. Further, they are deeply committed to making Floxsie as honest and transparent as it can be.
OUR MISSION
Floxsie’s mission is to share our collective passion and sense of joy in fiber arts with the present generation and generations to come. Essential to every event and activity will be companionship, inclusiveness and education so that each of us can grow in our commitment to being fiber artists and fiber arts enthusiasts.
ABOUT FLOXSIE LEADERSHIP
Acknowledging the land and its people
Floxsie is located in what is now Poughkeepsie, New York. This is the ancestral land of the Indigenous communities who were forcibly removed through land dispossession and violence.
Poughkeepsie exists on lands that were once home to the Delaware Nation, the Delaware Lenape Tribe and the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohican Indians.
These three groups work together to make decisions concerning historic preservation and repatriation in our region.
Poughkeepsie was originally named UPPUQUI-IPIS-ING - Reed covered lodge by the watering place. A spring named by the Lenape tribe.
